Felix Baumgartner made the news and action sports history this October with his now-legendary record-breaking leap from the stratosphere. Fearless Felix, that’s the nickname of Austrian daredevil BASE jumper, ascended to an altitude of impressive 128,100 feet, and then jumped back to Earth. He broke three world records during his free fall. The first one was the highest skydive – 24 miles; the second one was the highest speed – Felix reached as fast as 834 mph (Mach 1.24) in his free-fall; he also became the first person ever to break the sound barrier with no vehicular power on the descent. The third record (technically, the first on the chronological list) Baumgartner shattered was the altitude record for a manned balloon flight.

Felix has had a distinguished career as an action sportsman. Since his childhood Felix was dreaming of flying and skydiving. During his time in Austrian military Baumgartner practiced parachute jumping. He is well known for the highly dangerous nature of the stuns he performed. These included double jumps and landing on small zones.

Felix Baumgartner was the action athlete to dominate Twitter and YouTube with his jump being broadcasted live. He was among the ten most-talked-about people on the Web. As search giant Google analyzed a trillion search entries from all over the world, Felix with his jump was the sixth top trending person of the year. The first position was taken by PSY with his signature “Gangnam Style”. Thus, Felix Baumgartner became the number one trending athlete globally.
